KERNEL
Site — Gale Crater, Mars
“Seeds are magic, potent vessels of nature. They hold entire intelligent blueprints for life.”
A nature-inspired habitat proposed as a first step towards humans becoming a multiplanetary species. Establishing itself in the sub-terrain of the Martian regolith, the Kernel constructs its underground habitat through 3D carving — three vertically zoned levels, each arranged by character, connected yet distinct to ease the loneliness of its inhabitants.
